Mar. 9--FAYETTEVILLE -- From the witness stand in Fayette County Circuit Court Wednesday, the man who wrote political ads that became the centerpiece of a libel suit testified that the word "condom" does not appear in legislation Charlotte Pritt sponsored in the Legislature.

Consultant David Welch wrote a series of radio and television ads that ran in the final days of the gubernatorial race between Pritt and former Republican Gov. Cecil Underwood.

Welch said he worked for two political organizations named in Pritt's libel suit: the West Virginia State Victory Committee and the National Republican Senatorial Committee. …
