Mar. 6--Airlines in Thailand are cracking down on travel agents who are exploiting computerised reservation systems (CRS) to earn extra commission, and causing extensive and unnecessary expense to carriers.
The Board of Airline Representatives in Thailand (BAR), a grouping of 56 carriers, will soon notify 400 travel agents to strictly refrain from duplicating bookings and ticketing for passengers.
The BAR said airlines would levy these duplicate CRS charges from the agents as carriers would no longer tolerate the abuse, which went against the long established "best practice guidelines".
