Mar. 4--TOT Plc plans to invest 10 billion baht to rebrand Thai Mobile and look to Vodafone from the United Kingdom as its strategic partner to provide 3G mobile-phone services.
TOT president Teerawit Charuwat said Thai Mobile was ready to move ahead aggressively now that TOT had closed a deal with CAT Telecom to take over the struggling cellular venture.
Thai Mobile, 58 percent held by TOT and 42 percent by CAT Telecom, has been plagued by management problems and bureaucratic infighting. After five years, it has only about 50,000 customers in a mobile-phone market of nearly 30 million.
