Mar. 3--Samart Corporation has proposed a national clearing house, operated by itself or TOT Plc, for telephone interconnection charges once the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) settles the rules and rates.
TOT supports the idea but is still reluctant to scrap the access charge of 200 baht per number per month that it collects from mobile phone companies operating under concessions from its sister enterprise, CAT Telecom.
The major mobile operators agree with the clearing house proposal but say the existing access charge represents a double burden.
