Mar. 3--The number of passengers handled by Bangkok International Airport last year rose 2.70 percent to a record level of nearly 39 million while aircraft movements increased 9.35 percent to almost 268,000.
Figures compiled by Airports of Thailand Plc (AoT) confirmed that Bangkok was the busiest airport in Southeast Asia, surpassing Singapore's Changi, its arch-rival, which handled 32.43 million passengers last year.
The numbers also underlined the fact that the airport, commonly referred to as Don Muang airport, was used beyond its capacity of 36.5 million passengers, thus worsening congestion that has been ...
