Matt Kenseth was the appropriate winner of Sunday's NASCAR Nextel Cup race at California Speedway.
Not only is Kenseth low on the excitement barometer, like most of the stock car races on this wide and sweeping track, he deserved a win after Tony Stewart shoved him aside in the season-opening Daytona 500.
"Sometimes it does feel like there is justice in this world,'' Kenseth said.
Kenseth also gave his team owner Jack Roush a sweep of the weekend, following wins by Mark Martin in Friday's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race and Greg Biffle in Saturday's Busch Series event. Such a feat hadn't occurred since Phoenix 2001, also accomplished by Roush drivers.
Let's take the California event chronologically, starting with Kenseth having a heart-to-heart chat Saturday with Stewart. The subject was clearly Daytona aggression, but neither driver offered much insight to the points that were made.
"I think we understand each other better now,'' Kenseth said after the Auto Club 500. "It's water under the bridge.''
