We just knew the Chevrolet Corvette had more to give, even though numerous runs down the drag strip told us a different story.
After 12 attempts at a 0-to-60-mph time, not a single run came back under five seconds. You might guess our problem could be attributed to excessive wheelspin as we tried to control the potent LS2 V8. It wasn't.
The Corvette is actually extremely easy to launch, especially when you remember there are 400 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque under your right foot. Running the car all the way to its 6500-rpm redline in first gear (reaching 55 mph), then shifting to second for 60 mph produces no drama whatsoever.
