KCS Energy earnings beat views
The oil and gas production company reported a 16% fall in Q4 earnings to 81 cents a share, a penny above views. Excluding a tax benefit in 2004, KCS Energy would have posted a 37% rise in Q4 '05 earnings. Revenue jumped 82% to $117.4 mil on a 26% increase in oil and gas production and a 45% increase in average commodity prices. Shares rose 1.5% to 24.66.
** Transocean said one of its deepwater rigs won a 3-year contract extension worth $533 mil with Reliance Industries for drilling operations off the coast of India.
