Russian republic rejects federal law on ethnic policy.

Text of report by Russian Ekho Moskvy radio on 6 March
The Tatarstan State Council's committee for culture, science, education and nationalities has rejected a draft federal law on the fundamentals of state and ethnic policy. The State Council's legal directorate said certain articles of the draft contradict the Russian constitution. The Tatar experts came to the conclusion that the articles effectively enshrine the leading role of the Russian people. Sergey Magdanov, our correspondent, reports from Kazan.
