* How many times have you found yourself unintentionally blabbing classified details to friends, coworkers, and even strangers who goaded you with "Oh, c'mon, spill!" Fact is, we live in a confess-all culture where divulging everything isn't just expected, it's encouraged. But the secret to taking control is keeping those private tidbits to yourself. "But oftentimes, withholding details can produce far greater personal benefits." Read on to find out more.

BLAB-CONTROL BENEFIT 1

You Enhance Your Pleasure

You probably heard the phrase Express, don't repress. Well, this just in: When you let it all hang out--like recounting all the sappy details of your romantic vacay--the pleasure you can retain from those small fabulous moments is diluted. So be selfish. "Holding your tongue enables you to relish your private life more," says Magids.

Jessica *, 29, caught on to the high of refusing people an all-access pass to her life after her now-fiance, Tommy, proposed. "I loved sharing the story with my friends and family, but when people I didn't really know asked me to tell it, I felt like they were just bobbing their heads up and down and filing the information away, instead of appreciating what was essentially the most romantic moment of my life," she recalls. "So now I have a better answer to give them: "I won't bore you with all the details, but let me tell you--it was amazing.'"
