So be selfish. "Holding your tongue enables you to relish your private life more," says Magids.
Jessica *, 29, caught on to the high of refusing people an all-access pass to her life after her now-fiance, Tommy, proposed. "I loved sharing the story with my friends and family, but when people I didn't really know asked me to tell it, I felt like they were just bobbing their heads up and down and filing the information away, instead of appreciating what was essentially the most romantic moment of my life," she recalls. "So now I have a better answer to give them: "I won't bore you with all the details, but let me tell you--it was amazing.'"
