Mar. 3--Anyone who has been to a church dinner knows the setting: Large, multipurpose room with a kitchen at one end filled with tables. Tables groaning with homecooked food. People, some strangers, some friends, sitting around waiting for the program to begin. As always, the microphone acted up.
Except this wasn't just any other church gathering. Rather, we came together as people of many faiths for the annual dinner of the Akron Area Interfaith Council. We broke bread -- naan, to be exact -- at the Islamic Center of Akron and Kent in Cuyahoga Falls.
The president of the interfaith council is a rabbi. A priest gave the benediction. A Unitarian Universalist …
