This slim volume (130 pages) contains the essence of over 100 hours of taped interviews obtained over 15 months. The author interviewed 15 patients with Parkitison's disease (mostly in their own homes) and a separate group of 18 family doctors each of whom. had experience of his/her own three or four patients with Parkinson's disease. Dr Pinder, who is a sociologist with a PhD, was moved to undertake this indepth study by her own experience with her husband who had multiple sclerosis. The work was commissioned by the the Parkinson's Disease Society.
