Last week's promise by the assistant minister of Finance and Development Planning Mlazie promised that the suppliers of goods and services will henceforth be paid in time by government with effect from the beginning of the coming financial year - from April 1., Duncan Mlazie to Parliament is just too good to be believed.

The news is just too good to be believed. Our skeptism is based on government's appalling payment record, both the central and local government. Many a small and medium size Batswana companies have gone under mainly due to government's late payments for the services and goods delivered. The …
