There are about 190 cases of state-paid secretaries to House of Representatives members holding other positions, despite a ban on the practice in principle, The Yomiuri Shimbun has learned.

A 44-year-old state-paid secretary to Kozo Yamamoto, 57, a lower house member of the Liberal Democratic Party, is also a municipal assembly member in Buzen, Fukuoka Prefecture, simultaneously doing two public service jobs.

According to Yamamoto's office, the secretary won election in Buzen in 1997 when he was Yamamoto's private secretary.
