Feb. 27--Forget the press conferences and publicity campaigns. If you want to take some real encouragement about how seriously the federal government is treating influenza now, look at how quickly it is acting to incorporate the latest research into its guidelines on flu vaccinations.
Last week, the committee that sets federal immunization policy recommended that children 2 to 5 years old be vaccinated against influenza every year, the Washington Post reported.
