Thailand: Free treatment for leukaemia at government registered hospitals.

Section: General News - People suffering from leukaemia or malignant lymphoma who are registered with the National Health Security Office's universal healthcare scheme will from Wednesday be able to get free treatment at 49 hospitals across the country, The Nation reports.

Traditionally, many sufferers of these diseases have been deprived access to essential treatment because of the high costs involved. This has led to economic and social losses for the country, the office's secretary-general Dr Sanguan Nittayarum-phong said on February 23.

About 1,000 new cases of malignant lymphoma in children are recorded every year. …
