Section: Government and Politics - Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra on February 24 announced the dissolution of the Lower House, and called for snap elections in a bid to return with a new mandate, the Bnagkok Post reports.

The People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) slammed the decision, and stood by its vow to go ahead with its rally on February 26, to stay the course until the prime minister steps down.
