Zakat system to be made more efficient, transparent: Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said that Zakat is an important religious obligation and the system of its disbursement needs to be made more efficient and transparent to ensure that money reaches the deserving people.

He said this while looking into the recommendations of the sub-committee of the Cabinet on revamping Zakat and Ushr. The report was presented by the Ministry of Religious Affairs here on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said that a system of checks and balances should be put in place and improvement must be made in the monitoring and auditing of Zakat money.
