Feb. 22--Parents whose kids are struggling in English, math and reading may have some relief at hand. A federal program associated with the No Child Left Behind program could provide as much as $1,000 per student for tutoring. According to Monroe County School Board member Duncan Mathewson, the funding applies to qualified students of five Keys Schools: Key Largo School, Marathon Middle/High School, Stanley Switlik Elementary, Glynn Archer Elementary and Gerald Adams Elementary.
Only those schools are eligible because they are considered Title 1 schools, meaning many of their students are from low-income households.
