Members of the Punta Gorda Chamber of Commerce board of directors were sitting around last year when the directors came up with the idea to hold an annual wine festival. As they were brainstorming on what to present -- wine, perhaps? -- Chairman of the Board James Roland suggested it would be "really cool" if they could get a big-name act such as jazz band Spyro Gyra to play for the event.
Chamber President Glen Gould looked up the Spyro Gyra Web site, contacted the group's manager, found out it was available in February and he booked it. Gould came back to Roland, told him they got the band on board and, well, "now what?"
