* The story so far: Last month, K.--our fun, fearless, fictional blogger--started wondering if the friends-with-benefits sitch with Shady (aka Derrick) was doomed. Despite their hot-and-heavy nonrelationship, Derrick was flirting with Ashley, the wench at work who spread rumors that K. was having an affair with her boss. One morning, Derrick showed up late to work ... and so did Ashley. Would Derrick redeem himself in time to accompany K. to her brother's wedding?

Who Needs Mistletoe?
Derrick swears his and Ashley's coordinated work arrival was just a coincidence. He pointed out that if he were getting freaky with Ash, he wouldn't be so blatant about it, especially when everyone at the station knows we're "dating." Yup, he actually said the D word. Is that what we're doing? I had no idea.
I can only hope it's the truth, because he turned out to be the best wedding date ever. Charmed the pants off Mom, momentarily made Dad forget he still hasn't gotten over my dumping the college boyfriend ... heck, even my little brother dug him, and he pretty much hates everyone. Showing up with him bought me a good six months in which no one in my family will hound me about marriage and babies.
Derrick and I both had to work Christmas. Well, he had to work, and I volunteered because I was on family overload after the wedding. (Mom: "I can't believe they made you work Thanksgiving and Christmas! Honey, you need to be more assertive!" Uh huh.)
We may not have had any mistletoe around but nevertheless got into the (very naked) spirit of things....
