from BERNAMA, The Malaysian National News Agency MELAKA, Feb 13 (Bernama) -- Upgrading work of the Batu Berendam Airport here, expected to take about 18 months, will start next month, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy said today

He said the upgrading would entail building a new terminal and lengthening the existing runway to enable Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 aircraft to land

The contractor for the project has been appointed, the concept and design of the airport are also ready," he told reporters after meeting Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Ali Rustam
