from BERNAMA, The Malaysian National News Agency SUNGAI SIPUT, Jan 31 (Bernama) -- Some 300 participants of the Perlop Youth Land Scheme and villagers living nearby have appealed to the wildlife authorities to relocate a herd of 10 wild elephants that have been destroying their crops for a month

These people, who live close to the Piah Forest Reserve, have suffered losses estimated at more than RM500,000

Lintang State-Assemblyman Datuk Ahamad Fakih Adam said the smallholders had to postpone plans to replant about 100 hectares of crop because of the threat from the elephants
