ROSSI IMPRESSES IN F1 TEST.(Competition)
MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi's first public test in a Ferrari F1 car did not start well in Valencia, Spain.
On a wet first day, Rossi spun his Ferrari F2004 (running a restricted V10 engine) on his first lap and beached it in a gravel trap. Rossi redeemed himself over the second and third days, setting a best lap time of 1:12.3, compared to 1:10.9 by pacesetters Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button in the new V8 cars from Renault and Honda. New Ferrari driver Felipe Massa recorded Ferrari's best lap of the test at 1:11.284 driving the 2006 car.
Rossi's fastest lap was quicker than those of McLaren-Mercedes drivers Pedro de la Rosa and Juan Pablo Montoya and Toyota's Jarno Trulli. "It felt good,'' Rossi ...
