RAYNAL: Suh-weet! This car is either a big-time Boxster rip-off or the 911 steal of the century. Either way, it's one sweet experience.
First, it is a great-looking car in the metal. That is a good thing for Stuttgart, because this is not the most photogenic Porsche. Looks bad in pictures, looks terrific on the road. Those little trim pieces in the front help.
Second, the noise, specifically, engine noise. It's quite a bit louder than a 911 with the engine right behind your ears instead of out behind the rear axle. That is a good thing; it makes the great flat-six sounds more a part of the driving experience. And the power is good, though the chassis feels like it could easily handle a lot more.
Third, the steering. This is the most precise steering I can think of. I know what will happen next: Somebody will point out that this is the same steering system as the 911 and I'll look like an idiot. I don't know if it is, but I do know it is really, really good steering.
Fourth, the chassis. I read (or maybe somebody told me) this is the stiffest chassis Porsche has done. I believe it, and love this car's rigidity and the suspension tuning. In no way is the ride too harsh. It is perfect.
