The reader's choice award

I say the Chinese Geely 7151 CK is the most significant car at the Detroit show, instead of the new Camry you chose. People laughed when the first Japanese cars debuted, and when the Koreans showed up people dismissed them. The auto industry had best not laugh this time.

John Pritchard, Hansville, Wash.

More in retrospect

The Camaro concept can't decide if it wants to go with the wedge shape of the '90s, the straight, hard edges of the '80s, or the muscular stance of the Coke bottle shapes of the '60s and '70s. Even cousin Corvette got in on the look, with the low, wide stance of the rear end and the double-bubble roof.

Mike Harper, Louisville, Ky.

The Camaro concept is a nice car. Too bad it's too late. 2009? This is a problem for GM. Building great versions of yesterday's cars... tomorrow.
