If you've been blacklisted or have a rap sheet a mile long, chances are you've led a troubled life. But on EA Games' Need for Speed Most Wanted, trouble is what you're after-and the badder you are the better. It's all about gaining mean-street cred as you run from the cops and attempt to out-race your cutthroat rivals in an all-out effort to reach the Blacklist podium and grow your rap sheet.
Getting caught too much? Then you'll need to get your ride (the more than 30 vehicles in the game range from a Chevy Cobalt to Lamborghini supercars) into the safehouse for some tuning. You'll also need to work on your evasive maneuvers and use traffic to your advantage to keep the heat off your car and you from getting busted. The game's career mode features a neat back story where you'll learn about the Blacklist. Multiple racing styles keep the action fresh.
The gameplay is a nice blend of behind-the-wheel simulation feel and arcade-style touches such as wild crash scenes. As you progress, the fuzz starts to swarm, your opponents get harder to beat, and it's tougher to stay out of the pokey. The game's racing locales are well-designed and feature multiple shortcuts and destructible obstacles for you to search out. Online play is also available.
