Feb. 11--BURRTON - FIRES DEVOUR THOUSANDS OF ACRES Firefighters from four counties battle blazes As Sheila Corbally watched a menacing grass fire begin to subside west of her 91-year-old farmhouse Friday, her voice sounded only a little relieved. She had been watching the approaching flames since Thursday afternoon and could still see a flicker here and there in the darkness Friday night. With embers continuing to burn in tinder-dry pastures and with more high winds expected today, she worried aloud: "Who's to say it isn't going to come back?" By Friday evening, Harvey County emergency management coordinator Lon Buller could say that firefighters had contained fires that had threatened homes north of Burrton.
