Feb. 5--It was 5 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, and the 150 or so students already had spent two hours of their free time at North Mecklenburg High School talking about how to better get along with one another.
"It's 5 o'clock, time to go home," Julie McConnell, head of North Mecklenburg's science department, told one classroom. "No, we're staying," several students told her.
