** Wal-Mart has applied to the Indian gov't to open an office there to explore a possible entry into the retail market. India prohibits foreign direct investment in merchandise stores, but Wal-Mart is hoping for a rule change. The company already buys goods from India.

Oshkosh Truck roars past views

The manufacturer of heavy-duty trucks jumped 12.5% to 54.85 after it said Q4 profit rose 29% to 72 cents, 18 cents above estimates.
