Practice nurses have warned of a large increase in workload if the DoH decides to include toddlers in the annual flu campaign.

Last summer, the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) looked at proposals for including all children between six months and 23 months because they are all at risk of flu and also responsible for passing it onto parents and grandparents.

While the committee decided in September that more work was needed on the proposals before any recommendations could be made to the DoH, many flu experts believe the change will be made.
