The meatiest role in Carlos Carballada's early acting experience came in 1952.

His "Jake the Gangster" performance in the senior play at St. Joseph Collegiate Institute in Buffalo won him the school's drama prize. But the bug never bit him hard enough to make him want an acting career. Now Carballada, president and chief executive officer of First National Bank of Rochester, has found a way to combine work with show business: doing commercials for the bank.

Carballada typifies a small fraternity of CEO pitchmen who serve as advertising spokesmen for their businesses.
