Mr. Rockman of Alpern Rosenthal is the only regional accountant on FASB committee

DOWNTOWN -- Edward Rockman is a professional who is wedded to accounting -- literally.

By day, Mr. Rockman is a partner with the certified public accounting firm of Alpern Rosenthal & Co. By night, he is the husband of Mary Ellen Johnson, a partner and CPA for Trosch & Co.

"She does my taxes," said Mr. Rockman almost sheepishly, as if to defend his 24-hour devotion to his trade.

Nuptials and green eye shades aside, however, Mr. Rockman has another accounting passion: small business.

And with his two recent honors and appointments, Mr. Rockman ranks among the biggest small-business people in Pittsburgh.

The 52-year-old CPA earlier this year was appointed to the advisory council of the Financial Accounting Standards Board. As any numbers …
