Feb. 2--M.R. Pridiyathorn Devakula, the governor of the Bank of Thailand, (BoT) has been named the best central banker in Asia by The Banker magazine for his performance in the implementation of monetary policy and supervision of financial institutions.

"The central bank governor's job is never an easy one. In most countries, the government has diversified objectives which might not comply with the central banks," said Brian Caplen, editor-in-chief of the 80-year-old magazine.
