Feb. 2--Against the backdrop of a US$6-billion loss suffered by the world's airline industry last year, Asian carriers have outshone their US and European counterparts by posting a gain of $1.5 billion.
US airlines lost $10 billion and European carriers made $1.3 billion last year, according to the latest study by the International Air Transport Association, which represents 265 airlines, which fly 94 percent of the world's scheduled air traffic.
