ALL three large halls on the North Sea Supply Base at Middlesbrough are being used for fabrication projects and owner AV Dawson says there is continuing high demand for facilities in which to carry out offshore-related work.
'We have a number of local companies using the halls for fabrication work and when their projects are likely to finish we have other people almost queueing up to come in,' says Rob Turnbull, Dawson's business development manager.
'It is the first time since we bought the site [in 1998] that the three halls have all been in use for fabrication rather than storage. The work going on is generally offshore-related, including pipelines.'
NSSB also has a four-year contract for the loading to vessels of earthmoving and pipelaying equipment for a BP Petrochemical pipeline project in Azerbaijan.
AV Dawson, a family-owned company, owns three neighbouring sites on the Tees NSSB, the Ayrton International Railhead and Dawson's Wharf.
Since securing a contract including haulage, storage, handling and trailer shunting for Corus Special Profiles at Skinningrove, Dawson's also has 10 employees working full-time at the Corus plant.
