TWIN sisters are hoping to make a splash at the London Olympics after being ranked among the best young rowers in the country.

Lucy and Ruth Walczak, 17, from Rochdale, cover more than 40 miles when they train together for 12 hours a week on Hollingworth Lake in Milnrow.

And their dedication paid off when they secured second and third places at the Great Britain time trials in November. Ruth came just 0.1 seconds behind the leader in the Women's Junior Squad after a five km row in November, and Lucy's ship came in just 1.3 seconds later in the 20-minute race.
