Peterhead plans Hogmanay street party to rival its city neighbour.

Plans have been unveiled for a massive Hogmanay street party in a north-east town.

The proposed Peterhead bash could rival celebrations in Aberdeen and Stonehaven and is expected to attract hundreds of revellers to the Buchan port.

Grampian Police and Aberdeenshire Council are currently in talks with a small group of local organisers about the New Year spectacular.

The licensed event will be the first of its kind in the Buchan area and will involve a stage being erected in Broad Street.
