LOS ANGELES-THE SCREEN ACTORS Guild (SAG) Awards spread out its annual honors to an eclectic mix of winners Sunday evening at the Shrine Exposition Center.
Philip Seymour Hoffman won Best Actor in Film for his portrayal of novelist Truman Capote in "Capote." Hoffman, who won Best Actor (Drama) in the Golden Globe Awards, defeated nominee Joaquin Phoenix ("Walk the Line"), who was the Globes' Best Actor winner in a Comedy or Musical. Unlike the Globes, SAG has only one category in film acting.
