An impressive back nine finish saw Jayant Patel emerge the leading qualifier during the weekend's first round of the 2006 Prime Bank Festival of Golf series at the Sigona Golf Club course.

Playing off handicap 17, Patel parred only the first, third, fifth and the ninth at the front nine having bogeyed the second, fourth, and sixth and double-bogeyed the seventh and eighth for 19 points.

However, at the back nine Patel bogeyed only the 10th, 12th and 14th for three over par 23 and a total of 42 stableford points to beat G.G. Nganga (19,20), Peter Kiguru (19,20) and Nasoor Verjee (23, 16) by …
