Oil marketer Kenol/Kobil is eyeing the southern Africa region downstream market. The company, which is active in the mid-stream - bulk trading - fuel business in East Africa, Sudan, Malawi and Zimbabwe, said the retail section is part of its continental expansion strategy.

Kenol/Kobil has recently emerged as a major player in both segments locally, claiming over one-fifth of the market pie. Over the last several months, it dominated the import market through the Government Open Tendering System and now hopes to replicate the dominance elsewhere.
