A four-year university in Charlotte County. The words certainly have a nice ring to them, even if they carry the modifier "satellite campus."

This might be just the thing to vault Charlotte into prominence for something other than good fishing, big storms and a population getting as old as Fidel Castro.

Private Equity Group of Fort Myers and Stock Development of Naples have pledged to deliver a branch campus of Florida Gulf Coast University on what is now agricultural land along County Road 74 east of Punta Gorda.
