SEOUL, Feb 1 Asia Pulse - South Korea's tax watchdog is conducting tax investigations of overseas-based financial firms, a tax source said Tuesday.

A number of companies, which include Citibank Korea, Deutsche Bank, UBS, BNP Paribas and Merrill Lynch Securities, are either currently undergoing or scheduled to face a tax investigation by the National Tax Service (NTS), an NTS source said on condition of anonymity.

It has not been confirmed whether the investigation is part of the sample survey tax investigation of 116 domestic and foreign-based firms ...
