NBC has announced that The West Wing has been cancelled. We haven't watched it in a while: a state of affairs sufficiently commonplace to justify canceling the multiple Emmy winner. Apparently, there is a very liberal Mexican-American congressman from Texas (played by Jimmy Smits) running against a fairly liberal pro-choice Republican (played by Alan Alda) from California to replace the sitting very liberal, but very religious, president--and Nobel Prize winner--from New Hampshire.
