PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni's highly-anticipated re-appointment of Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile as governor of the central bank for another five-year term sends a positive signal to the business community, economists have said.

Fred Muhumuza, a research fellow at the Economic Policy Research Centre at Makerere University, said, "The re-appointment is probably in recognition of his stand on macro-economic stability, which is fundamental in this transition period."
