Jan. 19--BARNEGAT -- Township officials are hoping to broker an agreement with Comcast Corp. that will bring a local public access channel to Barnegat and arm the high school with a television studio.

"We've got to get the best deal on the hook that we can," Mayor Thomas Hartman said. "These are the things that the township needs."

The Township Committee on Tuesday approved a report by a local advisory panel, which compiled a series of recommendations concerning the pending renewal of Comcast's franchise agreement with the township.

The township is seeking a $250,000 technology grant for video production and computer…
