Pacific Telecom is one of the nation's leading telecommunications companies, with local exchange operations spanning an 11-state service area and long-distance operations serving Alaska. Pacific Telecom is also actively involved in the cellular telephone business and is one of the founding companies in the North Pacific Cable, the first direct undersea fiber optic system between the United States and Japan.

It was established in 1955 and employs approximately 2,900 people.
