Jan. 18--RAEFORD -- Hoke County social workers plan to take applications for county services today after a fire Saturday evening drove them from their offices.
The county's Department of Social Services closed Tuesday so that the social workers could move files and forms from their smoke-damaged building to a temporary office in the old National Guard Armory.
The department will reopen at 9 a.m. in the senior citizens' activities room in the armory.
Barbara Brooks, the department's interim director, said no services will be affected by the fire or the move.
