On Nov. 19 I attended a very fine concert in the Fine Arts Theater of the International School in Fort Bonifacio. The theater has comfortable seats, very good sight lines and acceptable acoustics. Perhaps the acoustics will improve if an acoustical cloud, similar to the one in the Philamlife Auditorium is installed.

The concert, titled Sting with the MMCO, was in celebration of the centenary of Shostakovich. Chino Toledo conducted pianist Cristine Coyuito and the Metro Manila Community Orchestra (MMCO).

This orchestra is composed of a mixed group of young musicians and professionals in business, in the academe, in the military, and in government. Their common vision is a love for music and its power to evoke positive values for the cultural development of the individual. They bring the beauty of classical music to thousands of people in concert halls to schools and communities, particularly the marginalized sectors that do not have the opportunity to listen to an orchestra.

All of this is made possible …
