Jan. 12--For more than a decade, while they were sleeping, the chain-smoking, knife-wielding, masked man would slip into the homes of women he had been watching, then terrorize and rape them. It was not until the fall of 1995 that the face behind the horror was revealed by Akron police, who declared they had their man: David Bellomy, the Goodyear Heights rapist. He was sentenced to 20 to 50 years in prison, but with a chance at parole in 10 years for good behavior. On Tuesday, Bellomy meets with a two-person parole panel. From that, one of the following will happen: Bellomy's prison sentence will be continued or he will be granted parole or his case will be referred to a majority of the eight-member parole board for further review.
